Fixing

Fixing means taking something broken and making it work again. Dreams use it for repair, healing — and the patient effort it takes.

What it usually means

Fixing is practical care. A leaking tap, a cracked cup, a bicycle chain, a torn seam: something has stopped working, and someone takes the time to mend it. Dreams about fixing things usually concern repair in a wider sense — relationships, health, plans, or parts of yourself that feel damaged and need attention.

Repair is the first theme. Mending an object in a dream often reflects a wish to put something right awake: a friendship, a mistake, a situation that has gone wrong.

Responsibility is the second. Many people dream of fixing things because they are the one others rely on. Such dreams can reflect the weight of always being the one who mends.

Healing is the third. Broken things often stand for hurt. A repair dream can reflect recovery — physical, emotional, or after a loss.

Control is another meaning. Fixing is satisfying because it makes order out of disorder. A dream of endless repairs can reflect a need to manage what feels out of hand.

Frustration is a quieter theme. Sometimes the tool is wrong or the part will not fit. Such dreams can reflect effort that feels wasted, or a problem that cannot be solved alone.

Patience is a related theme. Good repairs take time. A slow, careful fixing dream can reflect a gradual process you are already part of.

Letting go is another meaning. Not everything can be fixed. A dream where repair fails can point to accepting an ending.

Worth saying plainly: DIY projects, broken appliances and practical jobs at work often appear in dreams directly.

When it keeps coming back

Recurring fixing dreams often appear after conflicts, illness or loss, when something in life feels broken and the mind keeps working on it.

They also come to carers, parents and managers — people who are used to solving problems for others.

If you keep dreaming of fixing things, notice whether the repairs hold. Lasting repairs often follow real progress awake.

Others dream of the same broken object again and again, which can point to one particular problem that still needs attention.

Some people dream of fixing things that belonged to someone they have lost. Such dreams can be a gentle part of grieving.

In Jungian terms

In sixteenth-century Safed, in the hills of Galilee, the Kabbalist Isaac Luria taught a story of creation and repair. The divine light was poured into vessels meant to hold it, but the vessels could not bear it and shattered. Sparks of light fell and were scattered through the world, hidden in ordinary things. The work of *tikkun*, repair, is to gather them back. Luria's followers taught that this happens not only in great deeds but in small daily acts done with care and attention.

Jungian readers see in the image a picture of the psyche: wholeness is not given once and kept, but gathered piece by piece. The broken places are also where the light is found.

A fixing dream may be part of that work. Each small repair gathers a spark.

This page gives the general reading. Onar keeps your dreams on your device, lets you mark the symbols you saw, and asks the questions that tie them to the night you actually had — including the ones that keep returning. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is analysed by a machine.
